Combatants for peace's Tours in Eastern Jerusalem

One United City??

The Jerusalem branch of Combatants for Peace conducts tours in the Palestinian neighborhoods of Jerusalem in order to expose Israelis and foreigners to the reality in the eastern city. The tour exposes various aspects of the Israeli policy in the Palestinian neighborhoods and focuses on different forms of institutionalized discrimination, on the separation wall, house demolition, deprivation of residency rights, and the expansion of Jewish settlements in the heart of Palestinian neighborhoods. The tour is intended to explore the consequences of this policy on the lives of the Palestinians inhabitants of east Jerusalem and on the prospects of reaching peace in the region.

The tour leaves the Gan Hapa'amon (Liberty Bell Park) parking lot and goes through Armon Hanaziv, Jabl Mukkaber, to At-Tur and then to Silwan neighbourhood. In Silwan we will visit the protest tent and hear the planned project of "King's Garden" Park. Over lunch in a resident's house, the participants of the tour will get a personal perspective on the reality they were just exposed to. Palestinian activists of Combatants for Peace tell their own personal stories and answer questions concerning their life under Israeli rule. The whole tour lasts around five hours.

The tour is lead by Itamar Shapira, a certified tourist guide and an activist in Combatants for Peace. English Translation will be available if a sufficient number of English speakers will register in advance (please indicate that translation is needed upon registration). Tour dates are updated regularly on the Combatants for Peace website.
