On Saturday, 16/9, the Freedom March will [march] with the men and women of Walaja against the annexation of the village lands and demolition of residents’ homes, as part of the general annexation of Area C lands to Israel and the construction of a separation barrier. Come and stand with the residents of Walaja on International Peace Day and together say ‘No’ to land annexation, ‘No’ to home demolitions!
The village of Walaja lies between southern Jerusalem and Beit-Jallah and Bethlehem in the West Bank. Over the past year we have witnessed the Israeli government’s proliferated attempts at illegally annexing Area C lands for the purpose of the separation barrier which encircles the village. Further, the village houses are frequently demolished by the municipality, and this is the only service which the Jerusalem residents in Walaja receive from the City of Jerusalem.
Join us in a march of shared hope, marking International Peace Day. Come and call with us for the cessation of expropriation and dispossession of the local populace. Come and stand with the residents of Walaja in their fight for their lands, and join us in resisting processes which endanger any future possibility of a fair end to the occupation and to an equal and just future for both nations.
On Saturday, 16/9 we will meet at Evarest Hotel in Beit-Jalla at 16:30 and from there we will march to the entrance of the village and hold a joint rally with the residents.
Transportation will depart from Be’er Sheva, Haifa, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
