Solidarity for Fasayil
In July we paid a solidarity visit to Fasayil in the Jordan Rift Valley — a village our Jerusalem-Jericho group has been working with, in support of the residents whose home was demolished. Following the demolition, an entire family had to huddle in the 45c heat in the shade of the only tree around.
We visited alongside the Water Coalition – a coalition of organizations for the water rights of Palestinians, to protest for just and fair water distribution for residents of the West Bank. As part of our visit, we donated equipment and starting building a playground for the village’s children, who repeatedly witness their homes’ arbitrary destruction by the Civil Administration.
In august we returned to the village. We continued to work on the playground and completed a pavilion of sorts, to protect the residents from the scorching sun; but this assistance cannot be the only answer to the arbitrary demolition of homes. Demolishing houses is the government’s destructive policy. Join us in protest: demolishing homes is not the solution! Follow our Facebook page for updates.
